Opposistional Defiant Disorder

Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 
ODD is another tough disorder to deal with. 
Einstein was diagnosed with this also in 2004. 
The name says it all!

Symptoms of ODD
*Repeated temper tantrums
*EXCESSIVE arguing
*Refusing to comply with requests and rules
*Questions rules
*Deliberately trying to annoy/upset others
OR - being easily annoyed by others
*Blaming others for mistakes
*FREQUENT outbursts of anger
*Spiteful & seeking revenge
*Swearing
*Saying mean & hateful things when upset
*MOODY
*Easily frustrated
*low self-esteem

Causes
There are still alot of unanswered questions regarding the causes of ODD, but here are a few thoughts...
Biological - defects in the brain involving neurotransmitters. Also, many with ODD have other issues as well like ADHD, depression and anxiety.

Genetic - many with ODD have family members with a mental illness.

Environmental - a dysfunctional family life, mental illness or inconsistent discipline may contribute to ODD. 

Treatment for ODD includes therapy and medication for the co-existing disorders.
