Wow. I can't believe another school year is here! 

I can't believe school has been in session for a month! 

WOW!

Time sure flies! 

My homeschool voyagers of 2012-2013

Sis is 15 and a Junior.

Bug is 12 and in 7th Grade.

Hunny is 7 and in Second Grade.

We are planning an amazing year together! 

Einstein age 16 and a Sophomore. 

Although he started the year in our public school, 

we've been dealing with some pretty extreme behaviors and he is currently attending a court ordered day treatment program so his schooling in done there. We hope that he will be able to finish the program and return to his regular school yet this year.

Home Sweet School 2011

Yesterday we started back to school!

 My homeschool Voyagers of 2011-2012!

 Sis is 14 and a Sophomore.

 Bug is 11 and in 6th grade.

 Hunny is 6!

We are preparing for an awesome year together! 

And while I'm sharing first day homeschool pics, I better also share Einsteins first day of (public) High School pic too.

Weigh in time

The beginning of May was weigh in time for critters for fair.

This gives them a starting weight so they can figure rate of gain out come fair time in August. 

 I'm not sure if I've posted pictures of Bug's new goat? 

This is her and Wiz.

Wiz is a Nubian/Alpine Oops baby.

He's really sweet.

Bell Choir Performance

Last week Bug's bell choir went to a local nursing home. 

They had shamrock cookies to frost and a spring craft for the residents to make and the kids performed several songs for them. 

It was a very nice way for the kids to reach out to seniors who are so often overlooked - especially this time of year.

I mean they get tons of visitors at Christmas, but in March? 

Not so many.

Having grandparents who had spent time in nursing homes, this is an area that really touches me.

The kids did a great job and sounded beautiful! So blessed that she is able to be apart of this.

Someone special

Recently we had the opportunity to go listen to a movie star.....lol, really. :) 

He was speaking about his life - including being a recovering alcoholic and addict. 

I figured Sis would like to go see him no matter WHAT he was talking on. hehe. Since we are down to one vehicle right now, we all ended up going. 

This is Chaske Spencer. 

Know who he is? Sis didn't either - until I said his famous role: Sam Uley from Twilight. Then she came screaming down the stairs...."Yes, I want to go!" haha. We all enjoy Twilight...

So we all went and everyone enjoyed it. Well, Hunny did sit on the floor a bit playing with Barbies....but she is only five. 

 He shared alot. Funny how I could 'see' so much of Einstein in what he shared. I hope he took it to heart! 

He was very down to earth and 'normal'. 

He had a Q & A at the end and Bug was able to talk to him and even asked for his autograph! Here she is onstage with him. Einstein ran up there too so he is standing in front of Chaske. :S

So that is my little story about the kids first meeting with someone special. :)

Goat Project

Bug has a goat for fair. His name is Chippers. We board him three miles away at a ranch. Bug is pretty much in charge of the goat barn this summer as I think she should have the experience. Even though we can't have goats at home - she should have to take care of them all AND do the fun stuff like cleaning up goat raisins. :)

Bug & Good Ole Boy thought that some work needed to get done to the goat barn. So last Saturday we spent the afternoon working on the barn.

Looking out from the inside you can see the gaps. This made the barn walls pretty weak, and if you know goats....they are known for being escape artists, lol. :) We figured they could bust out fairly easy if they got the notion in their heads. Plus, it allowed for cold air and snow to come in. Good Ole Boy loved the look of the old walls though, so he kept them to add back over the new walls for looks. 

As the walls came down, I got the fun job of keeping the goats out of the barn! The kids took turns helping with that. The boys were pretty much NOT interested - too noisy I guess, but Rosie, well let's just say she was a tad bit more difficult. :)

Good Ole Boy nailing the original wood over the new walls. This gave a nice solid interior wall, but a more rustic look on the exterior. 

One job done, and now they are planning another....
